This page is specifically designed for my advisees who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership (or an AIS degree). Remember to also consult the undergraduate catalog for help answering questions.
The Undergraduate Catalog outlines all of the undergraduate degree requirements and policies (https://catalog.wku.edu/undergraduate/).
What is a Degree Audit?
WKU students, advisors, and staff will use Degree Works to track your progress toward your graduate degree or certificate. Students are responsible for running their degree audit to follow their progress toward their degree. Before consulting with an advisor, run the degree audit to make sure you understand the requirements for the program you are pursuing. Directions for running the degree audit are available at: https://www.wku.edu/degreeworks/students.php.
When can I register for courses?
Registration dates are determined by the number of hours earned and the level of the degree being pursued. You can check your registration date using the following website: https://www.wku.edu/registrationguide/registration_dates.php.
How do I know what courses are being offered?
A couple of weeks before priority registration you will be able to see the courses that are being offered via the TopNet login screen. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LOG IN to see the courses. Visit WKU Topnet and click on “Schedule of Classes” on the left tool bar. Then, select the term for which you wan to view the classes.
When should I apply for graduation?
The application for graduation is required to cover the processing cost and mailing of your diploma or certificate. The fee includes a cap and gown should you choose to participate in the commencement ceremony. You should complete the application for graduation by the time you have earned 90 hours. This notifies the Office of the Registrar of your graduation date and helps ensure you receive important information. You should apply for graduation on TopNet.
Why can I not register?
First, make sure you are attempting to register during the correct timeframe. Refer to the “When I can register” question on this page. If it is within your registration window, check the following:
(1) Do you have a hold on your account? If so, contact the referenced office to rememdy that situation. All undergraduate students have an advising hold that must be lifted before registration.
(2) Is the course restricted? Restricted courses have the letter “R” next to them. You must contact the instructor (or whoever is referenced on the blue note) before you can registrar for the course.
(3) Do you meet the prerequisite? Click on the course to review the prerequisite. If you do not meet the the prerequisites listed, you must contact the instructor teaching the course to request an override.
Can I request to take a WKU course not listed on my degree audit?
Yes. Consult with me prior to registration.
How will my military credit or transfer courses apply toward my degree audit?
All accepted transfer work will apply on the audit when it is recorded by the Transfer Center. You can talk with me if you aren’t sure about how your credits applied.
What should I do if I want to take a course at a different institution and transfer it back to WKU?
Do not register for a course at another school without checking how the course will transfer back to WKU. The website is https://www.wku.edu/transfer/transferhow.php. Look up the institution and find the course. You will see how WKU will receive the course. Reach out to me, if you have additional questions.
